Description

Why Gratitude Camp?

Gratitude Camp is designed to empower our youth to become leaders NOW. Our training consist of self discovery. Exploring possibilities they thought were just dreams or fantasies and creating solutions for everyday issues. To do so, students must first delve into the role of a young master through daily practices. Upon mastery they will begin to live what they have learned.

The campers will explore seven virtues from a new program developed by the education director of the Gratitude Camp, Andrea Michelle Ible. Each individual virtue has a specific activity and role they embody that will allow them to venture out as leaders in their communities. The goal is to observe a virtue in someone and show appreciation to the person who exhibited the behavior with a TOFA coin. This unique and very special way of saying thanks allows the student to make real-life connections and become grateful observers.

What makes us different?

Some of our campers will have the experience of eating differently. It is a NO SUGAR camp. They will learn how to make simple meals at home and at the camp. They will walk away with their very own camp cook book.

Our Camp believes that students are born with all the information they need to thrive on this planet. The information consists of natural intelligence, an intuitive mind and survival instincts. As camp educators our goal is to draw out what already exists, awaken the innate cleverness and creative “juices” and expand on their level of thinking. We are passionate about self discoveries, self learning and self interest. Our desire is to create a safe haven for the campers to be themselves and to accept who they are all of the time. “Our differences are what make us all the same (Ible, 2010)."

Campers are expected to walk away feeling energized and rejuvenated for the new school year and life.
